Who said being serious has to be boring?

In a refreshing new way, the SESAR JU seems to have cut the ties with the old fashioned way of communicating only in a somber and boring fashion. After updating their web site, they are now bringing us two SESAR theme screensavers and a number of wallpapers.
Who said being serious has to be boring?
I am not sure all the wallpapers are really suitable for the purpose, especially for those of us who keep a lot of stuff on the desktop. Some of the photos themselves are a bit too “busy” and finding things against that busy background becomes a tad difficult. But this is a personal thing and I find the initiative a very good one.

Screensaver 1 tells you the why...

But the two screensavers are really cute. One of them brings home some salient facts of the SESAR project and having all that data repeat on the screen while you drink your coffee is a good reminder why we are doing this in the first place.

The other one is a mice animation of the SESAR name and logo swimming on a cloud layer… let this one kick in and you can spend a few minutes dreaming about how things will be once SESAR is completed.
A welcome detail: both Windows and OS X versions are provided.
Screensaver 2 to dream by...

A pity that at the time of writing you cannot have both screensavers installed on your machine at the same time. You can only have the one you installed last because the previous installation is overwritten by the new one. It would be nice if we could have both installed and then select at will without having to install the other one. But this is a small detail which is easily corrected.
We are a family eating, drinking, breathing airplanes. A bit too much even, says my wife. I did show her the screen savers and she was not impressed.
“These are also about airplanes” – she complained.
Exactly! SESAR communications folks, you made the point!

  1. You are spot on Steve…we live from and for aviation and only the people close to us keep us reminding from time to time, otherwise for us this is as normal as breathing fresh air.
This way i also want to express my respect for the fresh and innovative approach of the SJU in making us all not to forget that there is only one goal, which is to talk SESAR and make it happen.
