Pictures from the 2007 Zhukovsky air show
Located on the shoreline of Galendzhik lake, some three hours drive from downtown Moscow, Zhukovsky Airport, once a secret test airport, is the perfect location to host the Russian Air Show: the reason is that flying boats are a major concern for Russians designers, so a large mass of water to display their impressive performances… Continue reading Pictures from the 2007 Zhukovsky air show
Paradise remains paradise…
Honolulu has always been the main gateway to paradise. As you can see on the period postcard reproduced above, this gateway had an airport to match. Somewhere on the Arabian Sea… The cargo vessel on which the radar is located is in the right hand lower corner, sailing in the direction of the arrow (pointing to the left and… Continue reading Pirate attack developing
Protesters carry Malev flag in Budapest
March 15 is the National Day in Hungary. This year anti-government protesters were out in force, their numbers impressive and a clear sign that patiernce with the conservative, largely unsuccesful government is running thin. This flag, the Hungarian tricolor combined with an image of a Malev aircraft, was a stark reminder of one of the most painful… Continue reading Protesters carry Malev flag in Budapest
A pilot will always be a pilot…
This sweet little picture appeared in the Malev Retro pages of Facebook and is attributed to Cpt. Janos Magyar. With Malev now gone we would like to pay tribute to her and her people also with this picture which, in its own comic way, does convey an importanrt message: our love for what we do… Continue reading A pilot will always be a pilot…
